Membership Benefits

The Transit Managerial Benevolent Association, is a not for profit organization, founded in 1984. We are dedicated to protecting the rights of non-represented managerial employees. We assist managers throughout New York City Transit, MaBSTOA, MTA Bus Company, and Staten Island Rapid Transit Operating Authority.

In order for the Transit Managerial Benevolent Association to achieve its goals, we need to enlist all Managers to join our Association. We have strength in numbers. Only with a united membership can we achieve our goals. This is your chance to have your voice heard along with your managerial peers. The dues are $10.00 per pay period. Come join us at our meetings and see what a united association of managers can accomplish.

The association has and will continue to offer a wide range of benefits to not only attract more members but satisfy current members as well.

The association offers over $14,000 in Scholarship Awards yearly. These awards are offered to the children, grand-children & step-children of members in good standing (must be a dues paying member for (3) three years to qualify).

To those reaching retirement age/years, we have reached an agreement with Norman Rosenfeld to offer free pension consulting to our members (see tab on home page PENSION CONSULTANT for more info).

General Membership meetings are held 3 times a year. At these meetings we invite guest speakers that are of interest to the membership. A buffet dinner is served.

Along with our membership, we have a Retirees Association. The dues are $35 per year. Retired managers have the benefit of keeping-up to what is going on in the TA, OA, MTA Bus Co. and SIRTOA and assistance to resources for retirees benefit information. Retirees are invited to the General Membership Meetings. The application for a retiree is found in the ‘join us’ tab on the home page.

The association has a web-site www.mtatmba.org which is maintained and updated frequently with information that all members can use. Download applications & forms, TMBA events,  department council members, web links, civil service news, telephone directory, attorney lines, etc. We also host an Annual Dinner/Dance where we honor a “Manager of the Year” and our three Scholarship Award winners.
